This 16-hour course is designed for individuals who may be required to provide first aid in a marine environment. The course provides essential first aid and CPR/AED skills for adults, with a focus on responding to medical emergencies that may occur at sea or in marine-related workplaces.

Participants will learn through a combination of instruction, discussion, practical skills, and marine-based scenarios. Topics include emergency scene management, CPR/AED, breathing and circulation emergencies, wound care, head, neck and spine injuries, bone and joint injuries, sudden medical emergencies, environmental emergencies, poisons, the marine environment, and moving an ill or injured person.

This course meets Transport Canada requirements under TP 13008 E.

Duration: 16 hours in class
Prerequisites: Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
Completion Requirements: Participants must attend and actively participate in 100% of the course, demonstrate the required skills, and achieve a minimum score of 75% on the written knowledge evaluation.
Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will receive:
3-year Marine Basic First Aid and CPR/AED certification
3-year Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification
5-year Transport Canada certification

Please note: The Transport Canada certification will be mailed after successful completion of the course. Please allow extra time for delivery.
Recertification: Marine Basic First Aid cannot be recertified under federal regulations. Once expired, the full course must be completed again.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Any booking cancelled 7 business days in advance will receive a full refund. Bookings cancelled within 3-6 business days of the course start will receive a credit applied to their account for future training. Students cancelling less than 48 hours before the course start, withdrawing after commencing class, showing up late, or failing to attend classes without notification (No Shows) will forfeit the full course fee. Student substitutions will be allowed up to the start of the course with no penalties. Irwin’s Safety reserves the right to cancel any course in which the minimum registration is not met, and make any changes in course content as circumstances may require. Every effort will be made to advise students by phone or mail of cancellations prior to the commencement date. In order to guarantee a seat in any of our courses, payment must be made at the time of booking.
